Profile & Contact

I’m a freelance designer and front-end developer, who works closely with music and arts, small businesses and the social sector.

I'm based on the south coast of England, with clients of all sizes from all over the world.

I like tractors and have arguments with my dog.

Businesses & Individuals

From a local arts charity to an internationally touring musician, I've helped clients get closer to their audiences and goals through considered design and a pragmatic approach.

Although digital design is where I spend the majority of my time, I also have experience with branding and identity; print and packaging; and creative direction across other brand collateral – often working with a trusted range of talented suppliers and collaborators I've known personally for years.

So whether your style guide is large enough to hold open a heavy door, or you thought a style guide was something to do with hairdressing, it would be a pleasure to hear from you.

Agencies

I develop primarily on Wordpress, but have experience with Drupal and most popular PHP frameworks. Some of my strongest skills are in visual design: taking wireframes and making them into polished visuals. My grounding in front-end development means all of my design decisions are made with confidence; I know exactly how they'll translate to code without winding up the development team. Delivery can be either in the form of tidy PSD/Sketch files with a CSS style guide, or as full static site builds. Conversely, I can take finished designs and build to the spec required.

I am happy to join a project halfway through, or be there from the beginning. When necessary, I'm happy to work onsite too.

If you'd like to talk about a project, big or small, please drop me a line on the email address below.

Most of the time it's easier to talk over the phone, so if you like, include a number so I can call you back.

Like most of my generation, I graduated from a provincial university with a degree in mediocre studies. Since then, I've galavanted all over Europe and the US, lived in a converted bus and spent a few years in-house at several agencies in the UK.

I've been self-employed since 2009, working on everything from designing global websites for well-known record labels, to project managing a multi-lingual social platform for a popular fizzy drink that everyone's heard of.

One of my biggest passions is cooking and consuming high cholesterol foods (pass the butter), and I make annual failed attempts to get fit. I'm also pretty keen on agricultural machinery and those funny old cameras that don't use memory cards.

I live by the sea with my girlfriend and a needy wolf that thinks it’s a lap dog.
